The Role

As a Production Engineer, you will take ownership of planning, coordinating, and managing production activities to meet output targets and exceed customer expectations. Your responsibilities will include:

Main Functions

  • Receiving and processing customer purchase orders while ensuring alignment with quotations.
  • Maintaining and updating the Master Schedule of Production to keep operations running smoothly.
  • Collaborating with departmental managers to develop detailed manufacturing schedules.
  • Monitoring production output to achieve budgeted targets and efficiency.
  • Assisting with stock and materials control, including originating purchase requisitions.
  • Ensuring compliance with ISO9001 standards, maintaining operational controls, and conducting regular production meetings.
  • Tracking despatch records and minimizing scrap material through effective monitoring.

Secondary Functions

  • Supporting management with job costings and quotations.
  • Contributing to the overall improvement of shop floor methods.
  • Adapting to overtime needs and fulfilling additional responsibilities for the good of the company.

Essential Competencies

  • Proven experience in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with quality standards like ISO9001 (experience with AS9100 or TS16949 is a bonus).
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently while knowing when to seek support.
  • A proactive approach to health and safety compliance.
  • A drive for continuous improvement in processes and methods.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in a tool-room environment across manual machines.
  • Knowledge of project costing and accounting principles.
