PLM Application Engineer
·Reporting to the PLM Systems Manager within the UK Programme Management team.
·Working within a global PLM team, will focus on supporting UK R&D operations with the creation, validation and management of digital vehicle data.
·Focusing on applications that support core R&D functions e.g. CAD, BOM, Visualisation and Change Management, will be required to become proficient in their usage and develop an in-depth knowledge of the supporting business processes.
·Acting as the Subject Matter Expert (SME), will advise Chief Engineers and their teams on PLM principles and document management best practises.
·Assist in documenting and maintaining the digital vehicle data structure.
·Develop an in-depth knowledge of Vehicle Delivery Frameworks to ensure that digital tools, processes and support documents are up to date and available as when required by the programme teams.
·Analyse current business processes to identify gaps, resolve inefficiencies and improve the vehicle development process.
·Increase the PLM knowledge within the engineering teams by delivering formal training and inform guidance sessions.
·Help PLM Systems Manager to define the systems roadmap to commonise the PLM approach globally.
·Support the global digital team to ensure all IT hardware is operational.
·Bring PLM experience to the team. Be able to advise on industry best practise, particularly around the usage of core PLM tools.
·Provide end user support wherever necessary.
·Provide technical assistance to the Global Support team by documenting common application errors and resolutions.
·Manage technical support tickets, on behalf of the end users, with the Global Support team to ensure issues are resolved in a timely fashion.
·Create new and modify existing working practises. Ensure that local processes adhere to group engineering standards.
·Manage the introduction of new global engineering standards.
·Support Global PLM team with system upgrades. Perform local UAT testing.
·Create and maintain New User Induction Programme specific to PLM systems.
·Provide end user training for all product creation tools. This may include classroom, one to one, and specialist role training.
·Assist in the introduction of new digital tools by creating support documentation, user training and operational support.
·Maintain PLM sharepoint site to ensure reference material is up-to-date.
·Troubleshoot hardware issues and support Digital team with issue resolution.
·Coordinate a Key User Steering Group to ensure all end user issues are captured and addressed.
·Install and upgrade client machines as required.
·Good knowledge of PLM principles and applications, including Teamcenter UA, Teamcenter Visualisation and CATIA V5.
·A proficient CATIA V5 user is desirable.
·Proficient with laptops and workstations at an operating level. Ability to conduct basic MS Windows administration tasks and network connection checks.
·MS Office literate including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
·Automotive experience would be an advantage. Minimum of 5 years’ in an engineering environment.
·Good communicator. Will be expected to work with members of the team at all levels.
·Flexible and willing to accept challenging and sometimes diverse activities to maintain project deliverables.
